My name is Johanna van Zanten. Located in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, I have started to write fiction and have discovered that writing is what I want to do as much as possible and hopefully full-time (or at least a good chunk of the day) after I retire from my daytime job as a child protection worker.
This is my first attempt at a blog, so bear with me. I could use some good tips for improving my blog.
Would you be interested in reading any of my short stories: you can read two of them in the menu items of the Maple Leaf Literary Supplement in the sidebar on the right.

I would like to encourage you to also visit my website about my first book-in-stories, ON THIN ICE: http://www.babyboomerwrites.com/.

My second novel is GUARDIANS’ BETRAYAL suitable for adults and Young Adults with an interest in adoption and the life of a new family and the coming-of-age of a young woman, Shaylah, the eldest of the two adopted daughters.

My third novel about a family in The Netherlands during World War II is in progress, looking for a home with a publishing house, and/or an agent willing to help me find that home. Its tentative title is DUTCH NAZI LOVER.

I would invite you to REVIEW my books on the Amazon or the Goodreads sites or other sites where it appears. I welcome and appreciate your participation and reviews because you as the reader determines the fate of an author!

I would be interested in: writing (fiction, mostly), gender differences and relationships, world politics, post world war 2 experiences in Europe, (was born and raised in Europe-the Netherlands, I left when I was 33), travel, North West Territories, First Nations, Indonesia, Mexico, Islam and other non-Christian belief systems and how these affected women then and now, integration, Canadian multi cultural experiment, European upheaval and reactive responses in the mainstream populations to a changing world, ethnocentrism, North American responses to diversity, inquiring minds and anything else interesting, travel not in the least. I love to debate issues and exchange ideas and would reply to any comments or additions you might have if you send the form below to me.

Drop me a line. I will reply.

  1. Being a writer can be difficult, but if you are consistent with your writing you will be able to overcome any barriers. I wish you luck with your writing and also luck with your blog.

I wish you luck, you have good talent for writing.

  3. A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you ought to write more about this issue, it may
not be a taboo matter but usually people don’t talk about these topics. To the next! Kind regards!!
