My name is Johanna van Zanten. Located in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, I have started to write fiction and have discovered that writing is what I want to do as much as possible and hopefully full-time (or at least a good chunk of the day) after I retire from my daytime job as a child protection worker.
This is my first attempt at a blog, so bear with me. I could use some good tips for improving my blog.
Would you be interested in reading any of my short stories: you can read two of them in the menu items of the Maple Leaf Literary Supplement  in the side bar on the right.

I would like to encourage you to also visit my website about my first novella, On Thin Ice: http://www.babyboomerwrites.com/ I would invite you to REVIEW my book on the Amazon or the Goodreads site,  or other sites where it appears. You can also REVIEW  On Thin Ice on the book’s website by following the link above for babyboomer writes.com and enter your thoughts in the comment section. I would welcome and appreciate your participation, because you as the reader determines the fate of an author!

Any subject I would be interested in: writing (fiction mostly), gender differences and relationships, world politics, post world war 2 experiences in Europe, (was born and raised in Europe-the Netherlands, I left when I was 33), travel, North West Territories, First Nations, Indonesia, Mexico, Islam and other non-Christian belief systems and how these affected women then and now, integration, Canadian multi cultural experiment, European upheaval and reactive responses in the mainstream populations to a changing world, ethnocentrism, North American responses to diversity, inquiring minds and anything else interesting, travel not in the least. I love to debate issues and exchange ideas and would reply to any comments or additions you might have if you send the form below to me.

Drop me line, I will reply.

  1. Being a writer can be difficult, but if you are consistent with your writing you will be able to overcome any barriers. I wish you luck with your writing and also luck with your blog.

  3. A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you ought to write more about this issue, it may
not be a taboo matter but usually people don’t talk about these topics. To the next! Kind regards!!
